Kijivu News
18th October 2008
We were obviously a little surprised by Kijivu’s poor run at Great Leighs last Thursday although Alastair and I in hindsight are to blame for trying her over what was likely to be an inadequate trip. She had been working so well at home that we thought she could be competitive in a very rare nowadays 46-50 handicap which is why we took our chance.
Our main aim is the 5th November at Huntingdon in a fillies only juvenile hurdle over 2miles, similar conditions to our winning run at Hereford.
We will probably now concentrate on hurdles only from now on.
Possible entry dates are:
November 5th at Huntingdon in a juvenile fillies hurdle over 2m.
5th September 2008
Kikivu is a Winner! 1st of 11 in a juvenile hurdle at Hereford on 3rd September winning by a comfortable margin. An excellent run which has us all very excited, remembering Kijivu is still only 3 years old.
We believe that she has a big future ahead over hurdles as well as running competitively over middle distances on the flat. Our next plans are to run on the flat at Wolverhampton on the 12th September over 1m 4f or at Goodwood on Sunday 14th September over 1m 3f. Watch for entries and declarations.
20th August 2008
Kijivu has come out of her race at Nottingham on Friday 15th August OK. We were a bit surprised at why she did not follow up her good run at Windsor in a better race, by finishing 8th of 12 in a lesser contest. We actually believe we got the trip wrong and she doesn't stay 1m 6f on the flat even though she seemingly gets 2m and probably further over hurdles.
Ok,so our plan is to possibly take in a 1m 3f race at Bath on 30th August and then go to Hereford on 5th September for a 2m hurdle race for fillies only. We may take in both if she continues in good health or just one dependant on how the fields pan out.
27 July 2008
3rd of 12 on first run over hurdles in a Class 3, £8,000 Juvenile Hurdle race at Market Rasen on Saturday 19th July.
We expected a big run from our filly and would have been closer but for the overnight rain changing the gound to Soft. R L Butler gave a very upbeat report afterwards and we are all very excited about her hurdling future.
This coming only 19 days after our fine run at Windsor over 1m 4f on the flat, coming an eased down 6th of 14 btn only 7l by the winner Cosmea who has followed up since in a class 4 handicap on Friday. This vindicates our opinion fully that we have the complete 'all round horse' that will be competitive under both codes.
This is an opprtunity not to be missed. Act now only 20% available in this exciting Grey Filly.
Next intended run at Nottingham in August where we should go very close.
6 July 08
Having just schooled Kijivu with Mark Bradburne on the Mandown Gallops in Lambourn a latest report:
Mark was very complimentary about her work this morning alonside Mr Belvedere with Wil Kennedy on board. She travelled strongly over a 6f stretch of the long gallop in a medium piece of work before being schooled over 3 hurdles, 3 times progressing nicely each time, In fact she did it too well ! On Mark's advice we are going to skip the valuable Stratford race next Sunday for a Newton Abbot hurdle race the following Sunday 20th July just to allow her to have 2 more schooling sessions between now and then. This race is perfect in the calender as the 1m 4f handicap we intend to win is at Nottingham in August.
A video recording of the schooling session will be here on our site very soon.
4 July 2008
A fantastic first run for us at Windsor on Monday evening where everyone had a great time. 6th of 14 having been upped in grade slamming the horse who beat us by 7 lengths at Lingfield in her previous run. We are looking very closely at making our hurdling debut on Sunday 13th July in a valuable Stratford event or at Newton Abbot the week after. We also intend landing a 1m 4f flat race handicap in August. Very exciting times ahead.
11th June 2008
She came out of her race at Lingfield where she finished 2nd to a useful type of Andrew Baldings and has settled well in her new Lambourn base of Alastair Lidderdales. We are currently looking for racing options and Lingfield on the 28th June over 1m 4f looks favourite at the moment and/or possibly Newbury on July 3rd again over 1m 4f. Keep looking out for entries as we aim to go close next time out!
